Bongofari Has Been Working On Music: 'Odo Reggae' Is Finally Here

The 'Odo Reggae' originator - Bongofari is busy working at some studios in Accra and Kumasi in Ghana on his upcoming album but set to drop couple of singles before the album. Before the decision to drop an album, Bongofari has been working behind the scenes with music icons like music duo,Queen of Highlife music of Africa - Queen Asabia Cropper and the King of Kente Music - Kenteman, Ebo Taylor, Gyedu-Ambolley, Atongo Zimba and others.

The producer, songwriter, singer and live performer - whose real name is Samuel Fred Crawther - told ENews Afrique, Penznbrainz Online News and other news agencies - ''He is now ready to thrill Ghana, Africa and the World with his style of Reggae which is the blend of Reggae rhythms and Highlife flavors; which he has named ''Odo Reggae" (Reggae Of Love)".

"I am sorry to say this but I have tried to let musicians understand how important it is for them to be identified with a particular genre than to follow trends and do what others are doing. How do you win important international awards if you do everything."

"My heart breaks sometimes because we Ghanaians and Africans can not name the music we do, forgetting that no matter how we produce our music to sound international, we will still have an element of African rhythms in it - we were born with it. Apart from Highlife and Hiplife which is recognised internationally, we as Ghanaians do not have any identity towards Reggae music hence the name 'Odo Reggae' which have been there for a very longtime but has not been named. Do not forget that most music genres that we know or heard of, if not all, are fusions of some sought thus a blend of two or more genres. There is nothing new." he added.

He stated that his singles (album) will not only break boundaries but also spark conversations that will go beyond the Odo Reggae but he been the originator giving name to the type of reggae done in Ghana.
